No Breakfast Club

By Moe Choucair with an introduction by Omar Kholeif

Moe Choucair aka Bakisa (@notbakisa) among many a rotating spat of avatars is a musician whose work unfolds as original compositions, as visual art, as videos (some viral, and others, not-so-viral), through DJ sets, and curatorial projects. In the 1% of his remaining time, he moonlights as artPost21’s producer and advisor for its flagship podcast and its attendant programmes [although we all agree, we’d all like a lot more time with Moe].

Moe took some time for hibernation this summer, but oh how wrong he was to indulge in such simple pleasures. When asked for his summer playlist, Choucair respond with a sprawling [sic: epic] playlist that freewheels from German electroclash to Belgian techno, acid, and House, and well, a whole lot of other things by bands, soloists, collectives, and the like, whom you may not have heard of. If you can name everyone on the list, a Gold Star will be emailed pronto.

Asked about his playlist, Moe responded, in lyric-prose, both apt, and almost ready to be transformed into a Haiku:

I hate summer, it makes me and you stupid and smiling
This massive playlist is a water and coffee breakfast
A collection of music that twists / directions
Do not argue with the sun.

And argue we shall not! Enjoy the rest of your summer! Summer need never be over.
